Ready or Not 2: Sequel in Development

A sequel to the 2019 horror film Ready or Not is reportedly in development. According to a recent report, Adam Robitel – director of several Insidious entries – is set to helm the project. Samara Weaving is expected to reprise her role as Grace, the bride who narrowly survived a deadly game of hide-and-seek. It remains unclear whether original writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy will return for the script.

Sequel on the Horizon

The original Ready or Not, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett under the Radio Silence banner, follows Grace as she is hunted by her new husband’s wealthy family on their wedding night. The family’s gruesome tradition stems from a pact with a demonic entity. The sequel is expected to explore this supernatural backstory in greater depth, potentially revealing more about the deal’s origins and lingering consequences.

What to Expect

Ready or Not was a commercial success, grossing over $57 million worldwide against a modest $6 million budget, though it has often been described as underrated. The film earned praise for its dark humor, sharp social satire, and relentless tension. The ensemble cast included Adam Brody, Andie MacDowell, Henry Czerny, Melanie Scrofano, Kristian Bruun, and several others.

Robitel brings extensive horror experience to the sequel, having directed Insidious: The Last Key and the upcoming The Turning. His involvement suggests the sequel will maintain a strong horror sensibility while expanding the mythology established in the first film.

Ready or Not 2 does not yet have a release date, and further production details and casting confirmations remain pending.
