Genshin Impact Pull Strategy: Save Primogems
Every Genshin Impact player has faced the same dilemma: a shiny new five-star character appears on the banner, but your Primogems are limited. The difference between a well-managed account and one that constantly struggles often comes down to pull strategy. The most successful players aren’t the ones with the most luck—they’re the ones with a plan.
Build a Pull Strategy Around Your Roster
Never pull on impulse. Evaluate whether a new character fills a gap in your existing roster before spending. If you lack a strong main carry, prioritize DPS characters like Hu Tao (1.3), who remains top-tier. For long-term support, characters such as Zhongli, Kazuha (1.6), and Furina offer unique utility that enables new team archetypes and are excellent investments. Track the six-week patch cycle and farm Primogems during the early weeks of each patch to prepare for desired banners. Weapon banners are generally for veterans with pity insurance; newer players should focus on character banners. Never spend Primogems on the Standard banner—use only free Acquaint Fates there.
Master the Resource Math
A guaranteed limited five-star can require up to 180 wishes (28,800 Primogems) if you lose the 50/50 and hit hard pity. As a F2P player, you earn roughly 50–60 wishes per patch from all sources (dailies, events, Abyss, exploration, codes). To guarantee a specific character, you need to save across at least two full patches. Pro tip: always have a baseline of about 14,400 Primogems (soft pity) before pulling on a banner you truly want. This covers the worst-case scenario of losing the 50/50 at around 75 wishes and needing another 75 for the guarantee.
