Silksong Guide: Reaching Wisp Thicket and Defeating Father of the Flame
As of 2026, Wisp Thicket remains one of Hollow Knight: Silksong’s most talked-about side destinations, a lantern-lit appendix to Greymoor that only opens after the player has pushed deep into the second act. It is not a place Hornet can simply stumble into during an early expedition. The area demands a specific movement upgrade, a difficult climb, and a boss fight that turns ordinary combat instincts upside down.
Prerequisites and Route to Wisp Thicket
The first requirement is the Double Jump ability, which is found atop Mount Fay. Mount Fay is a vertical gauntlet stitched from frost and impatience. Most sections are timed by exposure to cold winds, and Hornet will lose health if she lingers too long. Benches along the climb make the ascent far more manageable and can save considerable time. Players should also bring Rosaries to buy the map from Shakra and to unlock the first bench.
Once Double Jump is secured, the route continues through Greymoor. Hornet must head left toward the tower near the Bellway Station, climb all the way up, and exit through the passage on the right. That leads to a second tower. The player must climb again and this time exit through the left passage. This places Hornet in an area with numerous flying enemies and spikes below.
Fans must be activated repeatedly while crossing the gap. When the player reaches the section that allows upward movement, a Double Jump area leads to Wisp Thicket. Spikes are present, but Hornet can pogo off the ball and head right toward the bench. The bench serves as the main checkpoint for the area and the natural staging point for the boss.
