Tracking Down the Guardian’s Shrine

Before I could even think about the duel, I had to retrace my steps through a world subtly rearranged by the return to Pharloom. After unlocking the Silk Soar ability and completing the major quest that first takes you into the Abyss, the Heart of the Woods questline becomes active. Seth guards the way forward like a locked gate with a pulse, hidden in the interstices of the Blasted Steps.

I fast-traveled to the Blasted Steps and sprinted toward the Grand Gate of the Citadel, passing the arena where I’d once faced the Last Judge. The huge elevator shaft now held a secret: using Silk Soar, I clung to the top-right wall and found a passage tucked behind what looked like solid stone. Descending that vertical cavern felt like rappelling into a fossilized throat. I stayed close to the left wall and spotted a suspicious crack—a breakable barrier that opened into a forgotten corridor.

Through the breach, vegetation crept back into the stonework, and I soon found a shortcut back to a familiar Bench in the Underworks—the one that demands a tithe of 15 Rosaries. After a brief rest, I dropped through a hole in the ground and entered the arena. Seth was waiting there, as patient as a sundial’s shadow.
