Genimon Guide: Catching, Upgrading, Traits
Genimon in Duet Night Abyss function as an extra piece of gear, providing both passive and active bonuses that directly impact your farming efficiency, mobility, and team sustain. Understanding how to catch, upgrade, and optimize them is essential for grinders and min-maxers looking to speed up progression. These companions are more than cosmetic—they’re a deep customization layer that rewards investment.
Catching and Upgrading
Genimon spawn at fixed map locations, but the species is random each time. Use higher-quality treats to improve capture success—better food equals better odds. Overworld Genimon respawn on a fixed schedule, currently believed to be Tuesdays and Fridays, so plan your routes around those resets. To upgrade, you can sacrifice other Genimon, feed them consumables, or spend coins. Fishing creates a practical grind loop: selling fish provides coins for upgrades, and some fish rewards grant Genimon EXP directly. Ascension requires duplicates and unlocks additional trait slots, while rare consumables can push a Genimon past its normal level cap—save those for ultra-rare or event Genimon.
Traits and Ascension
Traits are the central progression lever in the Genimon system. As you ascend a Genimon, you unlock more trait slots and can stack lower-tier traits to upgrade their effects into gold-tier versions. Notable traits include Fierce (attack boost), At peace (auto-fishing), Frugal (drop rate increase), Gluttonous (pickup range), and Deft
